What sets Fuqua School apart from other educational choices in the south-central Virginia area?

Answer:

With over 500 students from 13 counties in grades PK-12, Fuqua School has a reputation for academic excellence. As stated in our mission, the school strives to develop each student's "boundless individual potential" by focusing on his/her strengths and talents. The school also works to instill a passion for learning, to foster a sense of social responsibility, and to encourage the development of personal integrity. Our students are recognized for their ability to communicate effectively, think analytically, and demonstrate leadership in a variety of scholastic, athletic, and community based endeavors.

Question:

Do you offer financial assistance? If so, how does the process work?

Answer:

Yes, Fuqua School does provide need-based financial assistance for those families that qualify. To facilitate the process, an outside agency is used to assess a family's level of need. This information is forwarded to the school's financial aid committee which makes the final decision regarding distribution of funds.

What about college?

Answer:

Fuqua School is a college preparatory school with an average of 95-100% of its students attending college. Since 2002, over $17 million in academic scholarships have been offered to our graduating seniors. With an average of 45 students in each graduating class, we are especially proud of this accomplishment. Additionally, our students are accepted at a wide range of colleges and universities, including such institutions as the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, the University of Richmond, Sewanee, and MIT.

Governance - Fuqua School is a non-for-profit organization which is governed by a self-perpetuating board.

Academics - Fuqua School's academic program is built around a comprehensive curriculum developed by its own faculty. The curriculum incorporates the Virginia Standards of Learning as well as other standards which enable the school to truly develop each child's "boundless individual potential."

Finance - Fuqua School charges tuition and raises money to cover operating costs rather than being supported by a church or by tax dollars.
