Fuqua School welcomes five new faculty/staff members for the 2016-2017 academic year.
Mrs. Jaime Estes is our guidance counselor available to grades Pre-K through 12. Mrs. Estes is available to assist with social/emotional and developmental needs. She also provides a special class in guidance for grades pre-k through 3 weekly and 4/5 every other week. Mrs. Estes holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in College and Community Counseling from Longwood University. She previously worked at Crossroads Community Services Board and as an adjunct professor at Longwood University. She is married to Mark and they have two children who are enrolled at Fuqua School: Ella, grade 4, and Levi, grade K.
Dr. Robert Frank joins the faculty at Fuqua School as an upper school debate and communications teacher and continues as debate coach as well as Battle of the Brains coach. Recently Dr. Frank was elected to serve a two year term on the Virginia Catholic Forensic League Board of Directors. Dr. Frank is a graduate of Prince Edward Academy and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and History from University of Richmond, a Master’s degree in Speech Communication from Wake Forest University, a Ph.D. in Speech Communication from University of Georgia, a Study Abroad for PhD, Friedrich-Alexander Universities (Germany), and Educational Administration certificate from Old Dominion University.
Mrs. Lynette Gee is one of our upper school math teachers and our coordinator for diversity and inclusion. Previously Mrs. Gee taught Algebra for Prince Edward County Public Schools, developmental math at Southside Virginia Community College, probability and statistics at Cuyahoga Community College, and engineering statistics at Ohio University. Mrs. Gee received her Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical University and holds a Master’s degree in Instructional Engineering Management from Cleveland State University. Mrs. Gee and her husband, Jayson, reside in Farmville with their daughter, Briana, and nephew, Julian, both of whom attend Fuqua School. Their grown sons Brandon and Bryan attend Montgomery College in Maryland and Longwood University, respectively.
Also new to our upper school math department is Mrs. Susie Hemler. Prior to coming to Fuqua School, Mrs. Hemler taught 7th grade math and Algebra I for Appomattox County Middle School. She has worked at Hampden-Sydney College in institutional research and assessment, and has an extensive background in engineering and management at Cadence Design Systems, provider of electronic design automation products and services. In May 2015, Mrs. Hemler completed the Career Switcher Program through the Virginia Community College System. Her teaching endorsements include Physics, Mathematics, Marketing Education, Technology and Middle Education 6-8 in Mathematics. Mrs. Hemler received her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia and holds a Master‘s degree in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University. Mrs. Hemler and her husband, Dr. Paul Hemler, Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Hampden-Sydney College, reside in Hampden-Sydney. They have two children; both graduated from Fuqua School, Rachel in 2008 and Mary Beth in 2010.
Krystal Tucker joins Fuqua School as a 4/5 classroom teacher. Prior to coming to Fuqua School, Mrs. Tucker taught 5th grade for Appomattox County Public Schools, and taught as an adjunct professor in the education department for Longwood University. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Sweet Briar College and holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Longwood University. Mrs. Tucker and her husband, Blake ’00, reside in Keysville with their two children, Wyatt and Kinley, both attend Fuqua School.
