Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)
The Fuqua School chapter of the FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA is a local chapter of a state and national co- curricular organization designed as an integral part of the instructional program in the Business Department. Through a planned program of work, FBLA strives to develop competent, aggressive business leadership; to strengthen the confidence of students in themselves and their work; to assist students in the establishment of occupation goals; to encourage scholarship and promote school loyalty; to create more interest in and understanding of the American Business Enterprise; to develop character, prepare for useful citizenship, and foster patriotism; and to facilitate the transition from school to work. Any student enrolled in a business class may join FBLA.
The Future Business Leaders of America was chartered at Fuqua School in 1994 and is affiliated with the Longwood Region, State of Virginia, and the national organizations of the FBLA. Since its charter, the local chapter has grown to include 80 members. Each year, the chapter has been recognized as an Honor Chapter, the highest award bestowed at the state level and as a Gold Seal Chapter at the national level. Members take part in activities in the school and community; provide financial support for the state service program, Project ASK; participate in activities on American Enterprise Day; adopt a needy family at Thanksgiving; raise funds to help support Madeline's House and the Patrick Henry Boys and Girls Plantation, and work together in a business partnership with the Fuqua School community to raise funds for the FBLA-PBL Foundation.
Annually, the Fuqua School FBLA has members competing at the local, regional, and state levels.
